In this study the writing products of 21 first-grade students, who drew a picture before writing a story, was compared with the writing products of 21 first grade students who wrote without drawing a picture. The students in the group which drew before writing showed more motivation and tended to produce more ideas than the students who wrote without drawing. These findings were mostly consistent for boys as well as girls.en
