This thesis observes and analyzes trends in children’s literature from 2012 to 2021. It includes the aspects of genre, format, theme, and style. This is based on research and expertise from newspapers, books, and peer-reviewed journals. With this meta-analysis, I analyze two middle-grade, fantasy, short stories that I wrote. They are compared to the meta-research, which lets me see how well it aligns with today’s preferences in children’s literature. Then, I can decide whether to try publishing the short stories (if they are very similar to the meta-analysis's results) or rewrite them (if they are not similar to the meta analysis's results).
