Northwest University Students’ Views on the Epistemological Relationship Between the Scientific Method and Theology

Abstract

In recent years, science and how it is applied has received significant attention. Such a development should prompt reflection by Christians on how, if at all, their theology and its personal implications interact with their assessment of science and the scientific method. Additionally, they should reflect on their epistemology, especially of science and theology, which is not a subject most often consider and only a few studies have explored. To prompt deeper analysis, this study inquires about the epistemology of college students at a Christian university and explores how they relate epistemologically the scientific process and theology. Its findings demonstrate a significant shift in Christian perceptions and philosophy in the past ten years and should prompt discussion by leaders in the church, education, and society.
