Unfortunately some children in the world have been left in vulnerable positions that have harmed their well-being. When they have not received adequate care, they experience devastating consequences. Because of that, it has been important to understand what children really need in terms of support and care. The most important thing that these children need are supportive and caring relationships. Mentorship has been one way to provide care for at-risk children. What is even more important is mentoring intentionally. Children have specific gifts and talents and are uniquely made in the image of God. Through mentoring intentionally, by focusing on gifts and talents, vulnerable children and youth are provided with opportunities to grow and flourish.en
